Blessings

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
This song has spoken to me on so many different levels...I had to share the lyrics! When going through this adoption process, I have had moments where I "just knew" that we were getting a certain baby...then the door would shut. Through all of that, its hard to remember that God is in complete contol. I'm reminded of an analogy told by Mark Hall of Casting Crowns when telling his own adoption story. When they brought their 3 year old daughter home from China, he was warned that it was very hard for these babies to form bonds with their dads because they were not around men in the Chinese orphanages. He said it took weeks for her to even look at him...the only physical connection he could get with her was she would take a cheerio from his hand. After a couple weeks of her only coming to him to take a cheerio, he got angry with God, asking why God let them go through this whole process if all she was going to do was come to him for cheerios. He said he heard the voice of God say, "How does it feel?"
So many times we go to God only when we need something from him. He wants us to have DAILY interactions with Him...not just coming to him with our hand out. This is something that I am working on in my life right now...and hopefully this analogy will help somebody else who is reading...more later. :-)

Adoption

Well...here we go...the first blog! I created this blog to keep everyone in the loop on how we are moving along in our journey to adoption. We are confident in God's plan for us and know that f we continue seeking Him, His will for our family will be revealed. We are in the process of going through a private attorney to adopt. We created our life book and she has been showing it...As of now, we are not using an agency. We are filling out all of our background check paperwork for our home study! I'm so excited to see where God is going to lead us, and I feel Him building a testimony in our life. I know that no matter what heartache and pain, ups and downs, laughs and tears, that it is all for His glory and He will use OUR story to help someone else in the future! That makes the hard stuff a little easier...not easy...but easier.
We are beginning planning for fundraisers. he two that we have going now are a tshirt fundraiser...visit our site at www.adoptionbug.com/donahopartyof4 and purchase cute tshirts where a portion of the proceeds will come directly to us to help fund our adoption. Also, we are going to have a Chick-fil-A picnic in the park in our neighborhood, and because of a generous donation from Arthur at Chick-fil-A Eastside Market in Tulsa, ALL the money collected at this picnic will go directly towards our adoption! More info on this to come!
